Infrared heat comes down to one thing: the temperature of the filament, not airflow. Our mantle heater is engineered to deliver consistent radiant intensity, usually between 300W and 1000W depending on the model, and it runs on standard mains voltage. Here’s the important part: you want a heater that matches the room’s needs and fits the mantle’s clearance. Unlike convection heaters that push hot air around and create layers of warmth (hot air rising, cooler air sinking), this unit radiates heat in a focused, directional way. The payoff is a stable feel in the room with hardly any air movement. That matters when you want to avoid those sudden shifts in skin temperature that can be hard on circulation.
The build: tough, simple, and designed to last
At the heart of it is a quartz envelope holding a halogen-cycle filament. Quartz handles high filament temperatures without breaking a sweat, and it responds quickly when you turn the heat on. And the halogen cycle? It keeps the element clean while it runs, so the output stays steady over the life of the heater. We chose an R7s connector for a straightforward reason: it handles the current cleanly and makes the heater a drop-in fit for standard mantle fireplace fixtures. Installation is as easy as it should be. Line up the pins, seat the tube, and secure it. The compact, linear shape slips right into existing fireplace cavities without needing you to rework the enclosure.
