If we shorten the tube but keep the wattage high to hit your target temperature, that filament is going to run hot. Really hot. This puts a lot of stress on the quartz envelope. You’ll want to double-check that your airflow and cooling can handle that extra heat around the ends of the lamp. Otherwise, you’re looking at melted sockets, and nobody wants to deal with that on a Tuesday morning. Getting it up and running We want these to be drop-in replacements. Period.
