The Headache of 3m+ Units
Here’s the thing: you can’t just take a standard filament and stretch it out. If you do, you’ll run into voltage drops and thermal expansion issues that will kill your efficiency. We handle this by carefully calculating the wattage and voltage to keep the heat density exactly where it needs to be. Plus, we usually set these up with multi-zone wiring. Why? Because the edges of the glass lose heat faster than the center. With zones, you can crank up the heat at the edges and keep the middle steady. It’s about balance.
Quartz and the Stress Test
We use high-purity quartz for the filaments. It’s the only way to handle the constant “on-off” thermal cycling of a production line without the glass cracking. For Low-E work, we stick with short-wave infrared because it punches through the glass surface fast. But the hardware matters too. We use reinforced end-caps and heavy-duty connectors so the lamps don’t arc or pull out under the mechanical stress of a 10-foot span. The Trade-offs
