A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Now, here’s the catch. High-density lamps pack a lot of punch into a small area. Because they’re so intense, you’ve got to make sure your cooling fans and vents can handle the extra heat around the lamp holders. If the airflow is blocked because the furnace is too cramped, those lamp ends will overheat and burn out way too fast. And one more thing: the wavelength matters. If the spectral output doesn’t match your glass type, you’re asking for thermal shock. We tune the wavelength so the heat actually sinks into the glass rather than just scorching the surface. It’s the difference between a perfect bend and a ruined project.
